Adding or Changing Your Profile Video
A short intro video is one of the most effective ways to attract students on Tissimo. It lets prospective students hear your voice, see your teaching energy, and get a feel for your personality before they ever book. Teachers with a profile video consistently receive more enquiries than those without one.
How the profile video works
Tissimo does not host your video file. Instead, you link a video you have already uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo, and Tissimo embeds it on your profile. Nothing is uploaded to or stored on Tissimo — only the link to your video is saved. This means you can update or replace it at any time simply by pasting a new link.
Your video appears in the “Meet [your name]” section of your profile, where students see it while deciding whether to book you. Adding a video is also required before you can manage your schedule, so it is one of the first things worth setting up.
Before you start: host your video
Because Tissimo uses a link, you first need your video live on YouTube or Vimeo:
- Upload your video to your own YouTube or Vimeo account.
- Make sure it is set to Public or Unlisted — private videos will not play for students.
- Copy the video's share link. Standard YouTube links (youtube.com/watch, youtu.be) and Vimeo links (vimeo.com) are all accepted.
Adding or changing your video
- Go to your teacher profile.
- In the left panel, find the Meet [your name] box and click Add video (or Change video if you already have one).
- In the Change profile video window, paste your YouTube or Vimeo link into the URL field.
- A Preview of the video appears automatically once a valid link is recognised. If the link is not from YouTube or Vimeo, you will see an error message — double-check the URL.
- Click Submit to attach the video.
- Back on the profile page, click Save to publish the change to your public profile.
Only the link changes when you swap videos — there is no upload, processing, or waiting, and nothing is deleted. You can replace your video as many times as you like.
Tips for a great intro video
Students browsing music teachers cannot meet you in person first, so let your video fill that gap:
- Length: 30 seconds to 5 minutes. Shorter, focused videos often perform best — aim to make a strong impression quickly.
- Appear on camera: You must be in the video so students can put a face to your name.
- Introduce yourself: Share your instrument, your teaching approach, and the students you love working with.
- Show a musical moment: A brief demonstration on your instrument adds instant credibility.
- Keep it professional: Use a tidy, music-related background and make sure your audio is clear.
Even a simple, authentic video significantly improves your booking rate. To see how it looks to a prospective student, use previewing profile as student.
