Course Balance and Automatic Refill

Your course balance is a pool of credits held specifically for a single course with a single teacher. It's separate from any other courses you may have on Tissimo — each course manages its own balance independently.

What the Course Balance Is Used For

When a recurring lesson is scheduled, Tissimo deducts the lesson cost from your course balance. Think of it as a prepaid credit for lessons with that specific teacher. The balance ensures your lessons can be booked automatically each week without requiring a manual payment each time.

How to View Your Course Balance

Your current balance (hours left) is shown on each course card on your dashboard and on your Lessons page. A history of charges and additions to that balance is available in your Transaction History.

How Automatic Refill Works

Before each recurring lesson is charged, Tissimo checks whether your course balance is sufficient to cover the upcoming session. If the balance is too low and auto-refill is enabled for your recurring series, Tissimo automatically charges your saved payment method and adds hours to the course balance. This refill happens in advance of the lesson so your schedule isn't interrupted.

Each refill purchases your chosen refill package (5, 10, 15, or 20 hours) at the same bulk discount as a manual hour purchase. You'll receive a notification each time an automatic refill occurs.

Manually Adding Funds

You can top up your course balance at any time without waiting for the automatic refill to trigger.

  1. Find the course on your dashboard or Lessons page.
  2. Click Add hours on the course.
  3. Choose an hour package (1, 5, 10, 15, or 20 hours).
  4. Confirm the payment. Hours are added to the course balance immediately.

What Happens If a Refill Fails

If your payment method is declined during an automatic refill, your recurring series is paused. Tissimo will notify you and prompt you to update your payment method or add hours manually. Resolve the issue as soon as possible to avoid missing a lesson.

Refunds to Course Balance

If a lesson is cancelled (by you within policy, or by your teacher), the lesson credit is returned to your course balance — not to your original payment method. You can use that credit toward a future lesson in the same course. For more details, see how refunds work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my course balance shared between courses?

No. Each course has its own separate balance. For information on moving funds, see transferring balance between courses.

Can I get a refund of my remaining course balance?

Refund eligibility for unused course balance depends on Tissimo's refund policy. Contact Tissimo support if you've stopped lessons and have remaining funds you'd like refunded.

How often does the automatic refill check run?

Tissimo charges each upcoming recurring lesson from your course balance when it enters the charging window — roughly 30 days before the lesson date — so the balance check (and any refill) happens then. You can review all charges in your Transaction History.
