Viewing Lesson Notes Sent by Your Teacher
After each lesson, your teacher can send you a set of notes summarizing what you covered, listing assignments, and tracking the pieces you are working on. These notes are a valuable reference between lessons and during practice sessions. You only see a lesson's notes once your teacher has finished them and sent them to you.
Where to Find Your Lesson Notes
- Go to your Lessons page.
- Select the lesson you want from the calendar or lesson list to open its details.
- Click the Notes icon in the lesson details panel.
- Open the Lesson tab to read the notes your teacher sent. Your own personal notes live on the My notes tab next to it.
Notes appear once your teacher shares or finalizes them. Until then, the lesson simply won't have notes to show. For a fuller walkthrough, see Accessing Your Lesson Notes as a Student.
How Lesson Notes Are Organized
On the Lesson tab, notes are grouped by category so you can quickly find what you need. Your teacher may include any of the following:
- Assignments — what to work on before your next lesson.
- Repertoire — notes about the specific pieces you're playing, grouped by piece.
- Technique — pointers on posture, hand position, tone, and other technical work.
- Scales and Exercises — scales, arpeggios, and drills to practice.
- Music theory — theory concepts covered in the lesson.
- Ear training — listening and aural-skills work.
- Other — anything else your teacher wants you to remember.
Your teacher chooses which categories to include, so not every lesson will have every category.
How You're Notified
When your teacher sends notes, Tissimo lets you know so you don't have to keep checking:
- You'll get an in-app and push notification titled "New Notes from [your teacher]" with the message "New Lesson Notes for [your course]!"
- You'll also receive an email that links straight to the lesson so you can jump right to the notes.
These alerts follow your notification preferences. If you'd rather not receive them, you can turn off new-lesson-notes notifications from your settings — see Manage notifications.
Using Notes to Guide Your Practice
Your lesson notes are designed to bridge the gap between lessons. Use them as a checklist during your practice sessions:
- Review the notes before each practice session to refresh your memory.
- Work through any assignments, scales, or exercises your teacher listed.
- Open the Practice page and use the sheet-music viewer and metronome alongside your notes.
Tips
- Check your notes soon after each lesson while the material is fresh.
- If something in the notes is unclear, message your teacher for clarification before your next lesson.
