Using the Practice Page

The Practice page is your dedicated space for structured self-study between lessons. It brings together everything you need to practice effectively — a timer, sheet music viewer, and metronome — all in one place.

Accessing the Practice Page

Go to Practice from your student dashboard. You can also find it in the main navigation menu.

What's on the Practice Page

Practice Timer

Start the timer to track how long you practice. Your practice time is recorded and counts toward your weekly practice goal. You can pause and resume the timer as needed during your session.

Sheet Music Viewer

If your teacher has shared sheet music with you, it appears in the sheet music section of the Practice page. You can scroll through pages while you play along. See Using Sheet Music During a Lesson for more on how the viewer works.

Metronome

The built-in metronome helps you practice with consistent timing. Set your tempo in beats per minute (BPM) and use it to keep a steady rhythm while you practice scales, exercises, or pieces.

Logging Manual Practice Time

If you practice outside the Tissimo app — for example, with a physical instrument or printed sheet music — you can log that time manually. See Adding Practice Time Manually for instructions.

Tips for Effective Practice

  • Start each session by reviewing your lesson notes to know what to focus on.
  • Use the metronome at a slower tempo first, then gradually increase speed.
  • Break practice into focused blocks — 15 to 20 minutes per piece or exercise — rather than one long unfocused session.
