Reading a Teacher Profile

To view a teacher's full profile, click their photo or name in the teacher directory. You will be taken to their profile page at a URL like /music-teachers/profiles/[teacher-name]. Everything you need to evaluate a teacher is on this single page.

Bio

At the top of the profile you will find the teacher's bio. This is where they introduce themselves in their own words — their musical background, teaching philosophy, experience level, and what kinds of students they enjoy working with.

Read the bio to get a sense of whether the teacher's approach and personality feel like a good fit for you. Some teachers specialise in beginners, while others focus on exam preparation, performance coaching, or a particular style or era of music.

Instruments

Below or alongside the bio, you will see the instruments this teacher offers lessons for. Some teachers teach only one instrument; others teach several. Make sure the instrument you want to study is listed before reaching out.

Lesson Packages

The packages section shows the lesson formats and pricing this teacher offers. You will typically see options based on:

• Lesson duration — for example, 30, 45, or 60 minutes
• Hour bundles — you can purchase multiple lesson hours at once and use them for future lessons
• Trial lessons — some teachers offer a shorter, lower-cost first lesson so you can try before committing

Review all available packages carefully. Prices shown on the teacher card in the directory are starting prices — the full range is listed on their profile page.

Student Reviews

The reviews section shows feedback left by students who have taken lessons with this teacher. Each review includes a star rating and a written comment.

Look for patterns in the reviews — consistent praise for a particular quality (such as patience with beginners or strong technique coaching) is a good signal. Pay attention to the most recent reviews, as they reflect the teacher's current approach.

A teacher may have a high rating with only a few reviews, or a slightly lower average with many reviews. Consider both the score and the volume of reviews together when making your decision.

Availability Preview

Click the View availability button on the profile to open the teacher's weekly calendar of open time slots. From there you can pick an exact time and proceed to the booking flow.

If the availability calendar does not immediately show times that suit your schedule, do not rule the teacher out without contacting them first. Schedules change regularly, and many teachers can accommodate new students at times not shown in the preview.
