Editing an Existing Course

You can update most of a course's details at any time from the course editor — its image, description, tags, lesson durations, levels, and promotional video. A few fields are locked after a course is created so that students who have already enrolled are never surprised by a change to what they signed up for. This article walks through exactly what you can change, what is fixed, and what to do if you need different core settings.

How to Open the Course Editor

1. In your teacher app, open Courses from the side navigation, or go directly to Course Management.
2. Click the course you want to change to open its Course Detail page.
3. Click the Edit button to open the course editor.
4. Make your changes in the fields described below.
5. Click Save changes when you are done. (You can also click Clear to discard unsaved edits.)

The Edit button only appears while a course is active. Once a course has been archived it can no longer be edited.

What You Can Edit

• Course image: Upload a new photo or pick a default one, and choose a color filter.
• Description: Rewrite or expand your description. It must be between 150 and 1000 characters, and cannot contain profanity or personal contact information.
• Tags: Add or remove keyword tags that help students find your course.
• Lesson durations: Add new lesson-length options (30 min, 45 min, 1 hour, 1 hour 30 min, or 2 hours). See how these behave below.
• Levels: Adjust the difficulty range you teach in this course, up to the highest level you are approved for on that instrument. As with durations, you can add levels but not remove ones already offered.
• Promotional video: Add, replace, or remove an optional YouTube or Vimeo video. This must be different from your teacher profile video.

How Lesson Durations Work

Lesson durations are add-only. You can introduce a new duration option at any time, but once a duration is offered it cannot be removed. This protects students who may already hold credits tied to a specific lesson length. The same add-only rule applies to the levels you teach.

What Is Locked — and Why

These fields are fixed for the life of the course. They define what a student agreed to when they enrolled, so Tissimo does not allow them to change:

• Course title: The name is shown read-only in the editor and cannot be updated.
• Instrument: The course's instrument is set at creation and can never be changed.
• Price: The hourly price cannot be changed for an existing course. Because students purchase lesson credits at the price in effect when they buy, allowing a later change would break the value of credits they already hold.

Turning New Enrollments On or Off

Whether your course accepts new students is not part of the editor. Use the Accept new students toggle on the Course Detail page to pause or resume new enrollments without changing anything else. Existing students keep their access either way.

Need a Different Price or Instrument?

If you need a different price, instrument, or title, the approach is to archive the current course and create a new one with the correct details. Archiving stops new enrollments while letting existing students use their remaining credits.
