Using the Guitar Chord Tool in the Classroom

The guitar chord tool provides an interactive fretboard diagram right inside your Tissimo classroom. Use it to show students chord shapes and fingerings by marking positions directly on the fretboard — including custom diagrams for any chord you need to teach.

Opening the Guitar Chord Tool

1. Hover over the instrument button on the left side of the classroom to reveal the instrument options.
2. Click the guitar icon to open the fretboard.
3. The interactive fretboard appears, ready for use.

Building a Chord Shape

To display a chord, mark the finger positions directly on the diagram:

1. Click any string and fret position on the fretboard to place a marker dot.
2. Click a marker again to remove it.
3. Build any shape you need, including partial chords or alternate voicings.

Your markers appear in your color and your student's markers appear in theirs, and everything updates for both of you in real time. Use the Clear button to remove all markers at once.

Note Names and Navigation

A few extras help you find your way around the fretboard:

• Use the small menu on the side of the fretboard to show note names as flats or sharps, or hide them entirely.
• The fretboard is full length and scrolls horizontally — click a section of the mini guitar at the top to jump to the low, middle, or high frets.

Student Participation

As a teacher, you control whether your student can mark the fretboard too:

• Use the toggle on your student's picture to turn student participation on or off.
• When participation is off, your student can follow along but cannot change the diagram.

Teaching Tips

• Mark chords one at a time to walk through a progression, clearing the board between shapes.
• Build custom shapes to show alternative fingerings that may be easier for beginners.
• Pair the chord tool with the metronome for strumming pattern practice.
• The guitar and the piano keyboard share the same window — use the instrument button to switch between them at any time.
