Setting Your Teaching Languages

Students on Tissimo come from around the world, and many prefer to learn in their native language. By setting your teaching languages, you make it easier for the right students to find you through language-based search filters.

How to Set Your Teaching Languages

1. Go to your teacher dashboard and open your profile (Edit Profile).
2. Find the Languages section in the left panel.
3. Click Add language, type the language name, and confirm. You can add multiple languages.
4. Save your changes.

Your selected languages will appear on your public profile and be used in search filters. English is included by default and cannot be removed.

Why This Matters

Language is an important part of the learning experience, especially for music where verbal explanations of technique, theory, and expression are essential. When students search for teachers, they can filter by language to find someone they can communicate with comfortably.

• More languages listed means more visibility to a broader student base.
• Only list languages you can teach in fluently — students expect clear communication.
• If you are conversational but not fluent, consider mentioning that level of comfort in your short bio.

Updating Your Languages

You can update your teaching languages at any time. If you start learning a new language or want to remove one, simply return to your profile and adjust your selections.

Tips

• If you teach in English plus one or more additional languages, list all of them to reach the widest audience.
• Mention your languages in your bio so students see them in context alongside your teaching experience.
• Students often appreciate knowing which language you are most comfortable teaching in, so feel free to note your primary teaching language.
