Setting Your Cancellation and Reschedule Policies

Clear cancellation and reschedule policies protect your time and set fair expectations for students. Tissimo lets you configure these policies from your dashboard, and they are shown to students during the booking process.

How to Set Your Policies

  1. Go to your teacher dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Teaching Policies.
  3. Configure your Cancellation Policy — set the minimum notice period required for a student to cancel and receive a refund.
  4. Configure your Reschedule Policy — define how much notice students need to give to reschedule.
  5. Save your changes.

What You Can Configure

Cancellation Notice Period

Set how far in advance a student must cancel to receive a refund. Common options include 24 hours, 48 hours, or more. If a student cancels after the deadline, the lesson hours may be forfeited.

Refund Rules

Hours cancelled before your notice period are fully refunded to the student's course balance; hours cancelled after the deadline are forfeited. Your policy should balance fairness with protecting your schedule.

Reschedule Rules

Set a notice window for rescheduling (for example, reschedules allowed up to 12 hours before the lesson). Tissimo limits each lesson to a maximum of 3 reschedules.

Where Students See Your Policies

Your policies are displayed to students at two key moments:

  • During the booking process, so they know the rules before confirming.
  • When they attempt to cancel a lesson, the confirmation modal shows exactly what will happen based on your policy.

Tips for Setting Policies

  • Be clear and fair — overly strict policies may discourage students from booking.
  • A 24-hour notice period is a common and reasonable standard for online lessons.
  • Consider offering flexible reschedule options rather than strict cancellations — this keeps students engaged without losing your time.
  • Review and update your policies as you gain experience with your student base.
