Adjusting Classroom Audio and Camera Settings

Inside the Tissimo classroom, you have controls to adjust your microphone, camera, speaker, and other settings. Here is how to access and use them.

Finding the Settings Controls

The audio and camera controls appear at the bottom of the classroom interface. Look for the microphone and camera icons. You can also access the full settings window by opening the menu in the bottom toolbar and choosing Settings.

Muting and Unmuting Your Microphone

  • Click the microphone icon to toggle your microphone on or off.
  • When muted, your teacher cannot hear you. Make sure to unmute before speaking.
  • A strikethrough on the icon confirms the mic is muted.

Turning Your Camera On or Off

  • Click the camera icon to toggle your video on or off.
  • Your teacher will see a blank or placeholder when your camera is off.

Switching Devices

If you have multiple microphones, cameras, or speakers connected, you can switch between them:

  1. Open the settings menu in the classroom toolbar. The Audio section covers your microphone and speaker, and the Video section covers your camera.
  2. Select your preferred microphone, camera, or speaker from the dropdown list.
  3. Your selection takes effect immediately.

Adjusting Speaker Volume

Use your device's system volume controls to raise or lower the speaker output. If you are using headphones, check the volume on the headphone cable or your device settings.

Common Issues

  • Teacher cannot hear you — check that your microphone is not muted and that you have granted browser permission for microphone access.
  • Teacher cannot see you — check that your camera is enabled and not in use by another application.
  • Echo or feedback — use headphones to eliminate echo from your speakers.
  • Audio cuts out — check your internet connection and close other bandwidth-heavy apps.

If problems persist after checking these settings, see Pre-Lesson Setup and Device Check for a full troubleshooting checklist.
